DETAILED PROJECT EXPERIENCE

A wide range of survey and measurement experience, both in the United Kingdom and abroad, for over twenty-five years.

Field experience as a surveyor and senior surveyor has been primarily on high precision, large scale civil engineering projects including; power stations,

shipyards, dams, highways, rivers and railways.  Other survey experience includes measured building surveys for; housing projects, military barracks, factories, banks, hotels, marinas and offices.

More recently as Managing Partner in Walker Ladd Surveyors and Associate Director in Atkins Survey and Mapping, responsibility has been for the administration and management side of the company.  This has included prioritising work loads, ensuring projects adhere to time scales, liaising with clients and helping to develop survey specifications appropriate to end user needs.  Experience and responsibility as overall Project Manager has been on a number of surveys, including such high profile projects as the Severn Tunnel Survey for Railtrack.

Well respected within the legal profession as an expert witness for Boundary and Rights of Way disputes.  Much experience has been gained in this field from case preparation and case presentation at court.  Cases have included both private land claims and commercial property rights. During the past 24 years has prepared reports on Rights of Way and Boundary problems, some of which have resulted in Court appearances in Swansea, Cardiff, Bristol, Oxford and London. Reports comply with the requirements of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), as set down in “Surveyors Acting as Expert Witness: Practice Statement”, and reflect an expert witness’ duty under the Civil Procedures Rules.

Specific experience includes:-

Atkins (1999 – 2004)

Project Director on the N2 and N4 topographical surveys in Ireland.  These were 15 km surveys for road improvement schemes.  Also involved on the survey for Bristol Rapid Transport. Set up Atkins survey unit in Dublin office. Established survey unit for the Metronet London Underground Project. During this time took instructions from South Gloucestershire County Council and a number of solicitors in matters concerning disputed boundaries.

Walker Ladd (1984 – 1999)

Senior Partner during the 1990’s and was involved with the Avon Ring Road for Avon County Council and the Severn Railway Tunnel.  Proof surveys for Glamorgan County Council, the last one being the Church Village Bypass.  Also undertook control survey contract on the M11/North Circular Project.  On behalf of Avon County Council, undertook bridge surveys for proposed strengthening projects. Undertook topographic survey in the West Falklands, through Halcrow, for the Ministry of Defence. During this period received instructions from Avon County Council and numerous solicitors concerning rights of way and boundary disputes both in England and Wales.
